The Pulitzer Prize–winner Hilton Als has been hailed as “exhilarating and audacious” by the San Francisco Chronicle, “spectacular” by Bookforum, and “thoroughly wise” by Library Journal. His first book, The Women, was published in 1996. His most recent book, White Girls, was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award and the winner of the Lambda Literary Award. His debut art show, One Man Show: Holly, Candy, Bobbie and the Rest, opened at the Artist’s Institute in 2016. He has curated and co-curated shows for the VeneKlasen/Werner gallery, the David Zwirner gallery, and others. Als is a staff writer and theater critic at The New Yorker and an Associate Professor at Columbia University School of the Arts.

His work appears regularly in New York Review of Books, The New Yorker, and The New York Times, among many other publications. He is director of literary programming at Pioneer Works, and teaches at NYU.
