Dave Eggers is the author of many books, including The Every, The Circle, The Monk of Mokha, and the National Book Award finalist A Hologram for the King, as well as numerous books for young readers, including Her Right Foot, Faraway Things, and The Lifters. He is the founder of the independent publishing company McSweeney's and the college-access nonprofit ScholarMatch, and the co-founder of 826 Valencia, a youth writing center that has inspired dozens of other centers worldwide. He is the winner of the Muhammad Ali Humanitarian Award for Education and the Dayton Literary Peace Prize.

Ethan Hawke is a four-time Academy Award–nominated artist and one of Hollywood’s most multi-faceted stars: actor, screenwriter, director, producer, and bestselling novelist. His prolific film acting credits include Dead Poets Society, Reality Bites, Gattaca, Training Day, Boyhood, the Before Trilogy, and First Reformed. He has also worked extensively in the theater and has been nominated for a Drama Desk award as both an actor and as a director. Hawke recently directed the critically acclaimed, six-part documentary The Last Movie Stars, about Joanne Woodward and Paul Newman. Additional recent onscreen projects include The Black Phone, Raymond and Ray, and the TV series Moon Knight and The Good Lord Bird. He will soon be seen alongside Julia Roberts and Mahershala Ali in Netflix’s Leave the World Behind. In 2021, Hawke released two new books: the novel A Bright Ray of Darkness and the graphic novel Meadowlark: A Coming-of-Age Crime Story. Additional written works include the bestselling novels The Hottest State and Ash Wednesday, the graphic novel Indeh, and the children’s book Rules for a Knight. Hawke currently serves on the boards of The Film Forum, The DreamYard Project, and The New York Public Library.
