What is IDNYC?

IDNYC is a free government-issued photo identification card for all New York City residents.

Who is eligible for IDNYC?

All New York City residents age 14 and older are able to get an IDNYC card. Applicants will be required to present proof of identity and residency in New York City.

What does an IDNYC card do?

The IDNYC card is an accessible and secure document that enables residents to access City services and grant admission to City buildings, such as schools. In addition, the card can be presented as proof of identification for interacting with the police.

You are also able to use your IDNYC card at any public library in New York. The card can be integrated with your account at the New York, Brooklyn, and Queens public libraries. This is the first time a single card will be accepted across all three systems.

A number of additional benefits are available to IDNYC cardholders, including the opportunity to sign up for free one-year memberships at 33 of the City's leading museums, zoos, concert halls, and botanical gardens. The City will continue to expand and improve upon the IDNYC program and work with businesses and community partners to make new benefits available to cardholders as the program grows.

How do I sign up for the IDNYC?

To sign up for an IDNYC card, you must complete an IDNYC application, available online at nyc.gov/idnyc or at any of the 12 IDNYC Enrollment Centers. You will need to bring your completed application, as well as proof foridentity and residency to an Enrollment Center.

Once your IDNYC application is approved, your card will be mailed to your home in 10-14 business days. If you do not have an address or have security concerns about an address appearing on your IDNYC card, you will be able to pick up your card at the Enrollment Center where you applied 15 business days later.

What information is on the IDNYC card?

The card will feature your photograph, name, date of birth, signature, eye color, and height; the card’s expiration date; and unique ID number. You can choose whether or not to include your gender and emergency contact information, as well as if you would like to be an organ donor or prefer to speak a language other than English.

How is Symphony Space involved with IDNYC?

Symphony Space is a part of the group of cultural benefit partners that are encouraging participation in IDNYC by offering IDNYC cardholders free one-year memberships.

Symphony Space offers a free Individual one-year membership as a benefit to IDNYC cardholders 14 and over who have never been members of Symphony Space, or whose membership expired before January 1, 2017.

PLEASE NOTE: The Box Office cannot process the NYCID form for you, so please fill out the form online before arriving or bring a printed out version of the form.
