Description
For its season finale, the New Amsterdam Symphony Orchestra welcomes back guest conductor Alex Wen. The concert will begin with Carl Maria von Weber's dramatic and lyrical Clarinet Concerto No. 2, featuring soloist Alex Kwok Wai Yu. It will conclude with Hector Berlioz's ever-popular Symphonie Fantastique, which has been called the most remarkable first symphony ever written by any composer. Premiering in 1830, it "constituted a musical revolution ... in its daring originality, scale, imagination, expressive range and orchestral mastery," according to the Hector Berlioz website.
