Description
This show uses Beijing Opera storytelling to explore the love affairs between the Roman general Julius Caesar, the Roman politician Mark Antony, and the Egyptian queen Cleopatra. Caesar, infatuated with the beautiful Cleopatra, declares her sole ruler over Egypt, although he keeps her as his own lover. When Caesar dies, his pupil Mark Antony becomes the ruler and gradually loses himself to Cleopatra’s charm. Their marriage unsettles Roman society and allows his political opponent, Octavian, to open fire on Egypt.
This show is a perfect demonstration of all the core elements of Beijing Opera performed by top-tier professionals local and from China.
