The critically acclaimed HBO documentary Street Gang: How We Got to Sesame Street comes to Symphony Space for a screening and talk-back with director Marilyn Agrelo, producers Ellen Scherer Crafts and Trevor Crafts, and original cast member Sonia Manzano (“Maria”), who will moderate the conversation on the film and the official companion book The Unseen Photos of Street Gang: How We Got to Sesame Street.
The documentary focuses on the first two experimental and groundbreaking decades of Sesame Street with exclusive behind-the-scenes footage and original cast and creator interviews, reintroducing audiences to the people who audaciously interpreted radical changes in society and engaged children in ways that entertained and educated them like never before. Street Gang: How We Got to Sesame Street airs on HBO in December.
