Our guides will be Guest Conductor Jane H. Kim and violin soloist So Jin Kim.
A recent Master of Music graduate of The Juilliard School where she received both the Bruno Walter Memorial Scholarship and the Molly Frank and Aliki Perroti Scholarship, Jane is Assistant Conductor - New York Community Trust Van Lier Fellow at The Little Orchestra Society. So Jin Kim already has a wide- ranging career – accepted toJuilliard at age16, a concert master with Lucerne Symphony at 24, a doctorate from Rice University in 2016 and currently the artistic director of Yeosu International Music Festival & Ensemble in South Korea.
First we venture through the fairy-like, magical world of Oberon. We then move on to the Bohemian folk-inspired melodies and romantic lyricism of Dvorak’s Violin Concerto. And finally to the Rhineland for Schumann’s Symphony No. 3 (which despite its numbering, is the last that Schumann wrote). Here we encounter sweeping melodies, the flowing Rhine River in the second movement, and the special "Cathedral" movement.
