Meshell Ndegeocello: No More Water/The Fire Next Time; the Gospel of James Baldwin

Meshell Ndegeocello’s music is born from a dizzying array of genres, touching on everything from soul to funk, jazz to hip hop, folk to rock, and more. In this special evening, Ndegeocello along with her band and special guests presents an evening of music highlighting her ever-evolving, multi-year exploration of American novelist, playwright, essayist, poet, and activist, James Baldwin. Inspired by the way Baldwin used the written word to empower others, Ndegeocello’s exploration uses music as a vehicle to share the inspiration of Baldwin’s words.

This program will run approximately 75 minutes with no intermission.
