James McBride in Residence: Bobos (Cheap Sneakers)

McBride’s original score for this jazz/pop/hip-hop opera, co-written with playwright Ed Shockley, is reimagined as a song cycle, narrated by McBride himself, exploring the seduction of easy money and the strength in true community.
