The Crossword Show is the New York Times crossword puzzle meets Wait Wait...Don’t Tell Me!, with more rap than you’d expect. Host Zach Sherwin (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Epic Rap Battles of History) presides as comedians Sarah Cooper and Gary Gulman, solve an actual crossword puzzle live on stage, with everything displayed on a big screen so the audience can follow along. As the panelists decipher the clues, Zach takes the show down rabbit holes of comedy, music, wordplay, and trivia, all inspired by the various answer words. More and more connections emerge as the show unfolds, and everything ultimately ties together for a grand finale that’s as satisfying as it is astonishing. You need literally zero crossword expertise to be dazzled by this brain-tickling, one-of-a-kind experience!

SARAH COOPER is the author of 100 Tricks to Appear Smart in Meetings and How to Be Successful without Hurting Men's Feelings, as well as the star of Netflix comedy special, Sarah Cooper: Everything's Fine, directed by Natasha Lyonne. Cooper became widely known during the pandemic for her viral lip syncs of Donald Trump. She has appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Tonight Show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and been featured in The New York Times, Washington Post, Vanity Fair and others. Her first memoir, Foolish: Tales of Assimilation, Determination, and Humiliation, was published by Dutton in October 2023 and she can now be seen alongside Jerry Seinfeld in his directorial debut, Unfrosted: The PopTart Story.
Over 25 years in comedy, GARY GULMAN has established himself as the comedian’s comedian, a remarkable performer and a peerless writer. It’s no wonder the New York Times wrote, “Gary is finally being recognized as one of the country’s strongest comedians.” A product of Boston, Gulman has been a scholarship college football player, an accountant and a high school teacher. He has made countless television appearances as both a comedian and an actor, and is one of only a handful of comedians to perform on every single late-night comedy program. He has made four masterful TV specials including his most recent universally acclaimed stand-up special for HBO, The Great Depresh, a tour de force look at mental illness, which is equal parts hilarious and inspiring. In 2019, he appeared in the international blockbuster Joker. He can most recently be seen co-starring with Amy Schumer in the hit Hulu comedy series Life & Beth. Gulman’s first book published by Flatiron Books is titled Misfit: Growing Up Awkward in the ’80s, a memoir based on his life from Kindergarten through twelfth grade.
