Two of America's most distinctive contemporary writers host an evening of their work. Sherman Alexie (War Dances, Blasphemy) and Edwidge Danticat (Claire of the Sea Light) present tales of family, identity, and magic. With readings by Marsha Stephanie Blake (Orange Is the New Black) and Jeremy Shamos (Birdman; Better Call Saul). Special musical guests The Pauline Jean Ensemble and Wesley Stace (FKA John Wesley Harding) perform original songs based on the authors' works.
"Few writers are more masterful than Sherman Alexie."
---Los Angeles Times
“Vivid and intensely personal. . . . Danticat has been fixing and unfixing her native country since the appearance of her first book. . . . She is a writer . . . inhabited, a writer dedicated to opening her reader’s eyes to something she keeps trying to see for herself.” —San Francisco Chronicle review of Claire of the Sea Light
There will be a book signing after the event.
