Music
From our inaugural concert, Wall to Wall Bach, to our enduring association with the World Music Institute, to our new music performances where composers from Cage to Corigliano, Ligeti to León and Adams to Zorn all have a place, Symphony Space is the place to open your ears, your heart and your mind.

Our 30th anniversary music season showcases our rich legacy, propels the next generation of rising stars and embraces musical innovation. Our series, which are thematically organized as mini-festivals, are designed to appeal to your singular tastes or your cross-over sensibility.

Literature in Performance
Writers and performers come together to celebrate literature at Symphony Space, home of the beloved series Selected Shorts: A Celebration of the Short Story, as well as intimate and interactive Thalia Book Club author conversations and the Thalia Kids' Book Club, bringing kids 9-12 face to face with writers they love. This season, Stephen King, John Lithgow, Jhumpa Lahiri, Joan Allen, Richard Ford, Edwidge Danticat, David Strathairn, Brian Selznick, Cynthia Nixon and many more come to 95th & Broadway for memorable discussions and spellbinding readings.

Theatre
Before your busy week gets the best of you, why not sneak off to a show? Monday is Broadway’s day off, but not at Symphony Space. Stars of the Broadway stage migrate uptown to showcase their original work.

Film
Long a cinematic treasure of the Upper West Side, where for generations fledgling filmmakers like Scorsese, Bogdanovich and Allen learned their craft and Columbia and Barnard students caught the latest art-house or revival films, we still make going to the movies at the Thalia magical, with film festivals, special series and the old-school favorite—the double feature!

Dance
Spring is dance season at Symphony Space. Our repertoire includes Thalia Dance, focusing on dancer/choreographer teams who couple text and movement, along with our signature special event, The Dance Sampler, a mini-marathon that you can drop in on any time to catch a glimpse or a couple of hours of the joy of movement, from classical to contemporary.

Family
Some kids want to be president when they grow up. Others want to be a rock star or even a movie star. Our family programs will excite and inspire each of your budding superstars. Every weekend there’s no better way to make the most out of your family’s day, short of the kids letting you sleep in until noon.

Education
Symphony Space's arts education programs establish the arts as a vital component of education for children and adults. Led by prominent actors, authors and teaching artists, more than 8,000 children, teens and adults throughout the city participate each year.
